Pam and Katie are having twin girls! I was honored to be able to create three pieces for the girls room. The first is a family portrait The next two are for the girls! I love being able to do baby and kids rooms, it is so nice to personalize and know that it may be part of their lives forever.

I have not posted since I finished the big cake, but I have been painting almost everyday since. This is Kamar he is my great Nephew. He is 4 and loves spiderman! I did his name and the red web picture. I can't wait til he gets to hang it in his room!
Knowing when to say when. I am very happy with the cake. Now it must be delivered! Please let me know what you think! Keep checking back, when I find out where it will be placed we can all meet there and have a sip of Champagne. I am learning so much from this project! ... Step back and things look better! it takes 3 coats to look good! As an artist that works at home and at any time day or night, this project has made me think about what I need to do, what I can get done in a session. I think I might be more focused than normal. The trick is getting out of the house! More to come today..I will be painting this afternoon!
Saturday 1/26 Dave, Bogey and I picked up a cake. Dave thought that would be an easy task for a nice sunny winter Saturday outing. I should back track a bit, nothing has been easy this month. On 1/8 the next door vacant condo had the pipes burst, 3 to be exact. Our family room was destroyed. We are getting ready for everything to get put back together. The plan on Saturday was to go look at carpet and tile samples, pick out what we want and go pick up the cake. I had explain to Dave that the cake was big and it was heavy but I don't think he was hearing me, you know the difference between listening and hearing :-) We can fit this cake in our SUV no problem, so we go home, and the cake does not fit through our door. Now it is cold and getting late! My mom and Lyn saved me!!! The prudential Select office my Mom works out of, is kindly letting me paint in a conference room. and they even wrote about me in their newsletter: In the news…. Did you know that St. Louis will be 250 years old in 2014? St. Louis will be celebrating with a "Cakeway to St. Louis" theme. Laura Weinrich (Janet's daughter) was nominated to paint one of the 250 Anniversary cakes. Laura is using our large back conference room to create her masterpiece. Please stop by and say "hi" to Laura. Visit stl250.org to learn more. This celebration is a great reason to be the first to let your SOI know about our office's participation in the event. There may be more to say in the future, but to have one of the cakes made by a member of our office family is something to be proud of! I am going to try and keep up a journal and this project, The project is for St. Louis turning 250 this year. There will be 250 cakes set up all over St. Louis city and County. They will be outside for 1 year. People will have all types of ways to interact with the cake project. It should be a fun journey. @stl250, #stl250 Day 1I found Zentangle ...It is making patterns and adding color. It is meditative and enjoyable. I find new mediums and then the obsession kicks in. I think I am solving some kind of design problem in a much larger body of work. You know the feeling you get when you know you forgot something. I feel like I am on the verge of finding that thing in my art. I need to sit still and draw and I think it will find its way out. so I have committed to zentangle. This week. (School starts back up monday) Every morning before I do anything else I go to the sketch book. Here is what has happened so far...
